A number of fans of progressive rock, along with critics, sing out such an interesting artist as Ben Craven (Brisbane, Australia), and some people do not hesitate to call him “prog rock sensation.” Ben is a songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist, over the past few years has released several uncommon solo albums, surprising with their perfection and professionalism.
No sooner had our like-minded people (true and imaginary) discussed on forums and sites his delightful album “Last Chance To Hear”, as Craven gives out a new opus (something like a creative report), called somehow odd “The Single Edits”, though his singles in such an abundance no one saw. But, apparently, they are somewhere, if the author so diligently picked up the supposedly best of his creativity. Critic J. Castle believes that the “musical thesaurus” of Ben will allow those who are not already familiar with his releases to get a general idea of his views not only on the development of progression as a genre, but also on the technique of his presentation to a modern listener who presses convulsively on the buttons of the smartphone, than cuts the hi-end deck. Very interesting information about how, that Ben heavily modified some of his old works and dragged into the studio for their re-recording of such masters as narrator William Shatner (remember Star Trek) and Billy Sherwood (participant of the great Yes). Yes, I almost forgot, the covers are designed by someone else like Roger Dean … Due to the fact that he writes his albums Craven himself, for live performances he organized a special group The Section.
Some explanations: William Shatner took part only in recording the track “Spy In The Sky Part 3” (he does not sing here, but recites the lyrics). In the composition “Captain Caper” is told about the captain capper (corsair, privatier) – the commander of the ship, to whom, as an individual, the government officially permitted the use of its armed ship with the purpose of seizing and plundering enemy merchant ships, and in some cases neutral powers.

Ряд поклонников прогрессивного рока вкупе с критиками выделяют такого интересного исполнителя как Ben Craven (Брисбейн, Австралия), а кое-кто не стесняется называть его “прог-рок сенсацией”. Бен – автор песен, гитарист, клавишник и вокалист, в течении последних лет выпустивший несколько неординарных сольных альбомов, удивляющих своим совершенством и профессионализмом.
Не успели наши единомышленники (истинные и мнимые) обсудить на форумах и сайтах его восхитительный альбом “Last Chance To Hear”, как Крейвн выдаёт новый опус (что-то вроде творческого отчёта), названный как-то странно “The Single Edits”, хотя его синглов в таком обилии никто не видел. Но, по-видимому, они где-то есть, если автор столь старательно подобрал якобы самое лучшее из своего творчества. Критик Дж. Кастл считает, что “музыкальный тезаурус” Бена позволит тем, кто ещё не знаком с его релизами, получить общее представление о его взглядах не только на развитие прогрессива как жанра, но и на технику его подачи современному слушателю, который чаще судорожно нажимает на кнопки смартфона, чем врубает hi-end деку. Очень интересна информация о том, что Бен сильно видоизменил некоторые свои старые произведения и затащил в студию для их перезаписи таких мастеров, как нарратор William Shatner (вспомним о Star Trek) и Billy Sherwood (участник великих Yes). Да, чуть было не забыл, обложки-то чуваку оформляет никто иной как Roger Dean… В связи с тем, что свои альбомы Крейвн записывает самостоятельно, для живых выступлений он организовал специальную группу The Section.

В композиции “Captain Caper” рассказывается о капитане-капере (корсаре, приватире) – командире корабля, которому как частному лицу правительство официально разрешило использовать своё вооруженное судно с целью захвата и грабежа торговых кораблей неприятеля, а в ряде случаев — и нейтральных держав.
